Defined You

Workplace: it’s the ultimate target of us all. It's the place where we meet different people from different atmospheres. Workplace requires a person to be more precise and neater and making personal grooming a much more important subject to be adhered to.

Furthermore, it necessarily need not be for a specific place, occasion or event, if someone needs to dress for their hearts content and attract a major set of appreciative words from the beholders, proper grooming knowledge is of utmost importance. Considering to meet this need of our members, Rotaract Club of University of Colombo Faculty of Management and Finance initiated "Defined you" a personal grooming session, on the 25th of January 2019 at the Faculty premises.

The main sponsor of the event was the well-known cosmetics company, Dreamron Professional Cosmetics Private Limited. With the target of getting an overall coverage on the topics such as interview tips, personal grooming, saree draping and makeup, the participants assembled to the hall with much enthusiasm.

Through the interview tips session, they furnished us with the right way of dressing and what colors to be selected to show how confident you are towards the interview. We were taught that colors like navy blue, black, white, red and purple are mostly appropriate to face an interview and also it was emphasized strictly to avoid orange colored attires during interviews.

Also, it was revealed that most importantly hiding one's self with unnecessarily heavy makeup would reveal the lack of propriety, but a neatly done hair would help you in gaining a better impression.  

In the personal grooming session, the workshop conductor Mr. Kavindra Perera, advised the participants how to take care of their skin and hair, where he used the products from Dreamron itself and showed how important it is to select the right products that give you proper results with less or no side effects. 

He also spoke about the different skin types and the importance of recognition of the right face-wash, creams and lotions to be used. He also added that different creams are needed during day time and night as the ingredients are specifically made for those different times of the day. 

This session was followed by the Saree draping session where a proper guidance was given to the participants on how to dress a saree step by step by one's own self. He demonstrated it using one of our members as a model. While this was going on, a fun game relevant for saree dressing was announced where a saree was given to each pair of us. Then, we were told to dress up our colleagues in the way we were taught. Afterwards, Mr. Kavindra Perera judged the dressed-up models based on the accuracy of the way they were dressed and selected the winner, for whom Dreamron presented a valuable gift pack.

The day ended on a high note as the participants got a better view and knowledge on how to present themselves in front of any kind of audience or place in the most appropriate way. 

After delivering the vote of thanks by the co-chairperson, the President of Rotaract Club of University of Colombo, Faculty of Management and Finance, Rtr. Limashi Kosgodage presented the token of appreciation to Mr. Kavindra Perera.

Same as every endeavor taken to bring about meaning to lives of people, by Rotaract Club of University of Colombo, Faculty of Management, this day became fruitful due to the efforts extended by the Chairpersons and the Committee. Congratulations on the Job well done.
