The 4th Installation Ceremony of the Rotaract Club of Alumni of University of Moratuwa

The 4th Installation Ceremony of the Rotaract Club of Alumni of University of Moratuwa was held on 21st of August 2016, at the Great Southern Hotel. This was the installation of Rtr. Chathuranga Gallage and his Board of Directors for the year 2016/17. On behalf of our club, Rtr. Shenali Fernando and Rtr. Madhushi Rodrigo attended the event.

The function commenced with an introductory video and the arrival of the Dignitaries at the occasion. The Dignitaries of the event were; the President of the Rotary Club of Colombo West, Rtn. President Roshan Fernando, who was also the Chief Guest of the occasion, District Rotaract Representative Rtr. Mohamed Husni and Co- District Rotaract Committee Chairperson Hussain Khaleel.

Lighting of the oil lamp was next on the agenda, after which the house was called to order. The Flag Salutation, Rotaract Invocation, Four-way Test and the Rotaract Song came next. All the Dignitaries and attendees who graced the occasion were welcomed, followed by the Secretary’s Report for the year 2015/16, by the outgoing Secretary Rtr. Guvanthi Abeysinghe. In her address she spoke about the most significant highlights of the past year in terms of their many projects and achievements. 

Next up was the address by the President for the year 2015/16, Rtr. Rtr. Dilina Fernando. In his speech he mentioned that he is grateful for each and every individual who supported him in making his term of service a success, especially his Board of Directors, who devoted their time and effort into implementing the many different projects during the year.
  
Subsequently, the incoming President was introduced by Rtr. Chinthaka Dharmasiri, and it led the way to the collaring of the new President by Rtn. Roshan Perera. The newly appointed President Rtr. Chathuranga Gallage then took the podium and expressed the confidence he has on his team and his drive to work with passion and perseverance.

Next, was the induction of the Board of Directors for the term 2016/17. The Board consisted of:

• Immediate Past President - Rtr. Hansaka Fernando
• Vice Presidents - Rtr. Sachindra Weerosooriya & Rtr. Himantha Alahakoon
• Secretary - Rtr. Hasini Perera
• Treasurer - Rtr. Nisal Sankalpa De Silva
• Editor- Rtr. Nimesha Rathnayake
• Directors Community Service - Rtr. Dinushani Wickramarachchi & Rtr. Thilina Weerakkody
• Director of Professional Development - Rtr. Sachit Sudharshan Tissera
• Directors Club Service - Rtr. Thamali Mampitiyaarachchi & Rtr. Vipula Dissanayake
• Director of International Service- Rtr. Udari De Alwis
• Director of Public Relations- Rtr. Dulan Nakandala
• Directors of IT- Rtr. Randika Navagamuwa and Rtr. Jawadh Salih Rifath
• Sergeant-At-Arms- Rtr. Dimuthu Punsara Colambage

Then, the District Rotaract Representative Rtr. Mohomed Husni addressed the gathering and went on to say that the members of the Rotaract Club of Alumni of UOM serving the community even after leaving the university is truly commendable and inspirable.

Next, the Co- District Rotaract Chairperson Rtn. Hussain Khaleel also spoke a few words, congratulating the outgoing President for a job well done and wishing the incoming President and the board all the very best for an eventful year ahead.  

The Chief Guest Rtn. Roshan Perera then addressed the gathering and congratulated the new President for year 2016/17 and he further reinforced the need to convert the Rotaract Club of Alumni of UOM into a Rotary Club. 

Next, the Dignitaries and the most outstanding club members including the Immediate Past President were given tokens of appreciation. Then, it was time for felicitations, and the President and his board received well wishes from all the clubs that attended the occasion.

Finally, the Secretary for year 2016/17 Rtr. Hasini Perera delivered the vote of thanks, thanking everyone for their presence and support throughout their Rotaract journey. The event came to a close with the National Anthem being sung and it was time for fellowship and refreshments.

Well wishes to Rtr. Chathuranga Gallage and his Board of Directors for an amazing Rotaract year ahead, from the Rotaract Club of University of Colombo, Faculty of Management & Finance!
